KAYLA TURNS 11 - SNUG HARBOR PARTY

Snug Harbor is a small private marina, located in the middle of Carlsbad. Many people living in North County don't even know it exists. It is a hidden treasure tucked between Interstate 5 and El Camino Real!! It was the ideal location for Kayla's 11th Birthday Party. Close to home, water sports and a beautiful location. It also helps having your birthday fall at the end of summer/early fall, the weather tends to cooperate and the water temperature is still bearable.

See what I mean about location, a cupcake tower with the lagoon in the background. Can you see Grandpa Robert's Bayliner at the dock?

Looks like the party is OPEN!!!
Violet and Kayla arrived at 7:58am to stake a claim on the recreation deck,
first come rights!!!

Lauren & Kayla
This might be a good time to point out that Lauren did not break her arm at Kayla's party, it was a pre-existing injury. She was able to participate in most of the water sports by using a plastic bag to cover her cast.

Kayla - Uncle Todd - Finn
Heading off to the boat dock for the first launch of the day, one of many...
Go Captain Todd!!!

Angie - Kirra - Grandma Violet
Party Recreation Deck

We brought down the two kayaks and boogie boards, water fun for those who are not on the boat, only six per cruise. Water activities all around.

Off they Go,
Ninja ready to drop in the water!!!

Love - Kirra & Finn

Joseph -
he was one young man amongst many many girls!!

WATER KNIGHTS
Finn & Joseph

McKenna - Emily - Kirra

And off they go again,
I lost count after the 5th launch!

Roman - Cashia - Jimmy
Kayla's Uncle, Aunt & Cousin

Joseph was so good with his new shadow Finn, even though he is the wise old age of 12, it didn't phase him to play Knights of the Round Table with my 3 year old. When's the last time you've seen a knight at the local lagoon?

Girls Rule!!
Hayley - Kirra - McKenna

If you look closely......
it looks like Kayla and Heather are pulling an extra person
Smart Kirra!!

Samantha - Finn - Emily
Finn is very very lucky........
always surrounded by pretty girls.
Little factoid: Samantha & Emily are second cousins to Kayla & Kirra

McKenna & Hayley
Water Trikes provided another popular activity for the girls while not out on the boat. Angie rented them through Snug Harbor Rentals.

Finn washing off before candles, cupcakes and gifts.
His mother trained him well.

Birthday girl getting ready to blow out her candles.....
can she do it?

Kayla - Samantha - Lauren
Opening presents,
Lauren managed to eat her cupcake one handed.
HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY KAYLA
I must also take this time to thank my father for the loan of his boat/tow hitch/Snug Harbor Permit, without his support the party would have been much closer to shore. We missed you Dad!!!!

CATS .......only three performances left of the Summer Season at the Moonlight Ampitheatre in Vista, CA. Did you know that CATS, the Broadway Musical was based upon whimsical poems by T.S Elliott? When placing our ticket order the Box Office informed us to arrive early, they haven't seen lines this long since 1976 for the Bi-Centennial, soooo...Mary arrived early to secure our location this evening! We had lawn tickets, we wanted to make sure we were front and center.

PHASE ONE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

With the paint barely dry on our new fencing, Todd has tackled the next big project. Installation of custom 6' beveled, leaded glass windows. They've been hanging out in our garage for over a year and finally made their way to my living room.

Demolition begins.....white powder settled on every surface, even with plastic barriers in place. As my mother-in-law says, it gives me the excuse of putting off dusting/mopping until this drywall phase is over. If anyone drops in, I can just blame the mess on the remodeling project...why haven't I thought of this excuse before?

Isn't it Beautiful?
$50.00 (saved from restaurant remodel)
$100 Mahogany Framing (Mexico)
6' Beveled Leaded Glass Window
$0.00 Labor
Priceless
Muchas Gracias Violeta!!!

Who let the Architect on site?
Thank Goodness the Architect/Contractor team gets along!
Psssst....check out my father's side profile, looking good Dad!!!

Seeing Todd with power tools is such a rush!! Between you and me, my husband has surpassed all expectations of what I dreamed for in the perfect spouse. Shhhhhh.....don't let him know, gotta keep him on his toes!

Closing up the old 1955 window.....I will not miss it at all.

Ta Da
Phase One Complete

Do you just love the windows and opening for my future fireplace?

My darling husband also installed electrical boxes for two wall-sconces with an on/off switch and if you look even closer, my cable connection & electrical outlet is centered in the wall to hide behind a flat panel TV.

Please don't laugh at my Halloween Lighted Garland...
it is intended for the front fencing,
but I just can't get over having an electrical outlet over my fireplace.

PHASE TWO coming soon!!!

Finn's All Around

Sunday morning our neighbor came home after a 2 1/2 day deep sea fishing trip with .....Yellow Fin Tuna. Looks like the fish were biting in the Pacific.

I went to fill up my coffee mug, looked out the living room window and saw my son, in his pajama's and slippers.....holding the tail of a Yellow Fin Tuna. It was very nice of our neighbor to let Finn pose with the Catch of the Day but honestly, I can think of better things a 3 year old should be doing at 7am Sunday morning.......

P.J. Salvage (designer of Finn's pajamas) should know I am impressed with their product, only one wash cycle on hot and no fish smell detected.

P.S. Our neighbor brought over yellow fin tuna fillet's and smoked skip jack this evening....Can you guess what we are having for dinner tomorrow?

Girls Night Out

Men go fishing, play golf and join Fantasy Football Leagues. Woman have Girls Night Out" which usually includes a chick flick, margaritas and silly conversation . Time to unwind, no children, no men.....just cocktails and food we don't have to prepare.

Movie selection last night "All About Steve". It was hilarious and light, the perfect choice for Girls Night Out. This is the view of the theatre from the outside bar/fire pit at Back Street Brewery, walking distance to the theatre. We started and ended our evening here.

Devon sipping her Chardonnay around the fire pit at Back Street Brewery. Doesn't she look relaxed and happy, this is the main purpose of "Girls Night Out"

Why is it that after three margaritas,
I look like my little brother at age 10?

ZOE & DAISY

We are pet sitting guinea pigs for the week, Zoe & Daisy. My dearest friend and her family are spending the week on the beaches of Hawaii. When the opportunity to pet sit her guinea pigs was offered, I accepted immediately. Finn has been obsessed with small rodents since G-Force (the movie). We will enjoy them for the week and then home they go, a win win situation.

Side by Side - Zoe & Daisy
At times, our hallway smells like the San Diego Fair
(Feed Hay has a unique smell)

Grandma Cher recently dropped off a book on Guinea Pigs, it came in handy with familiarizing ourselves with proper care for our foster pets. Have you heard, if you hold a guinea pig by the tail, their eyes will pop out.........needless to say, we will not be trying this.

This book offers everything from history of the guinea pig to building cages, indoor & outdoor versions. If you are planning on adding a guinea pig to your family, I highly recommend this book.

Having Zoe & Daisy in our home has brought back memories of my brother and his love for his guinea pig Gwenie. He was very attached to her, they spent their childhood/teenage years together. Sadly, she passed away while he was at college.

P.S. To us, Zoe & Daisy have been house guests,
to our cat Delilah they represent dinner.
